Metamorphic Rock Experiment

Start with 3 clay balls of different colors. Roll them together into one ball. Smash the ball flat like a fat pancake. Stand the pancake on its edge and then smash the clay flat again. Cut the clay into 4 sections. Students will look at the cut edges to see how the heat and pressure have made the colors stick together just like the minerals in metamorphic rocks stick together after being subjected to the heat and pressure deep in the earth.

Identifying Metamorphic Rocks -- Earth Rocks!

Identifying Metamorphic Rocks -- Earth Rocks! Identifying Metamorphic Rocks -- designed for the introductory-level student in a physical geology class AFTER watching Identifying Minerals, Identifying Igneous Rocks, and Identifying Sedimentary Rocks. This video reviews ALL those rock types and discusses how they transform. It can be overwhelming if you start here first. Designed for physical geology lab classes. Metamorphic Rocks

Metamorphic Rocks

Metamorphic Rocks are rocks that have changed form due to heat and pressure. Metamorphic comes from the Greek words meta and morph. Meta means change and morph means form. So we get metamorphic meaning to change form. Metamorphic rocks were once sedimentary, igneous or even other metamorphic rocks that have been changed by heat and pressure.( visit our website http:/www.findmarble.net for more information )
